What is Face Mounting?
Most muzzle devices index off the barrel shoulder. Indexing properly is important because that is how the suppressor aligns with the barrel. A misaligned suppressor is a high risk for a baffle strike.
If a barrel has a small or no shoulder the muzzle device may thread past the shoulder instead of indexing off it. A face mounting muzzle device indexes off the face not the shoulder. Since the face is thick enough to contain the pressure it is always thick enough to index off of. Even if there is enough shoulder for a tradition muzzle device, face mounting will work.
We recommend using face mount muzzle devices on the: PSA AKV, Kalashnikov USA KP9, Springfield Armory Kuna, and VZ61
Mounting
Simply thread the device on to the barrel threads and tighten it enough it won't back off. Ensure the muzzle device is not touching the shoulder. Our Tri-lugs may be trimmed and blued so they don't touch the shoulder.
Depending on how many threads the manufacture cut in the barrel, there may be a few threads showing.
