Black Oxide


Black oxide is a chemical conversion coating used primarily on steel and stainless steel components. It creates a thin black surface layer that provides a durable, non-reflective finish while maintaining the component's dimensional characteristics.

Benefits include:

  • black, low-reflectivity appearance
  • minimal dimensional change
  • improved corrosion resistance when properly oiled or sealed
  • reduced glare
  • consistent, uniform appearance
  • improved handling characteristics

Black oxide is especially useful on steel components where a low-profile black finish and minimal dimensional change are important.

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon)


DLC is an extremely hard, low-friction coating offering excellent wear resistance and corrosion protection. The underlying surface finish can be selected based on the performance requirements of the component.

DLC-coated surfaces may be left smooth or prepared with a controlled textured finish before coating. A smooth substrate can help minimize adhesion of carbon and other fouling, while a blasted or textured substrate can provide a different surface character and appearance.

Type II Anodizing


Type II anodizing is an electrochemical surface treatment that forms a protective aluminum oxide layer on aluminum components.

Compared to untreated aluminum, Type II anodizing provides:

  • improved corrosion resistance
  • increased surface durability
  • improved wear resistance
  • a consistent, durable surface finish
  • excellent color options for identification or appearance

Type II anodizing is commonly used on aluminum components where corrosion protection, appearance, and general surface durability are important. 

Type III Hardcoat Anodizing


Type III hardcoat anodizing is a durable electrochemical surface treatment used on aluminum components.

Compared to standard anodizing, hardcoat anodizing provides:

  • greater surface hardness
  • improved wear resistance
  • better corrosion protection

We use Type III hardcoat anodizing on aluminum components intended for hard use and repeated handling. 

TiN (Titanium Nitride)


TiN is a hard ceramic coating applied to metal components to provide excellent surface hardness, wear resistance, and a distinctive gold-colored finish.

Benefits include:

  • excellent wear resistance
  • improved corrosion resistance
  • reduced friction
  • distinctive gold-colored appearance
  • improved surface durability

TiN is especially useful on components exposed to repeated contact, friction, or wear where both performance and appearance are important.
